MAHDI NOORI
,Non ionising radiation
Non ionising radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation that
does not have enough energy to remove any electron from an
atom or molecule.
Why – non-ionisng radiation us used extensively in health care in
applications to help health care professional to diagnose and
treatment the bad conditions of the body, for example,
ultrasound imaging, laser surgery, and UV light treatments;
magnetic resonance imaging and transcranial magnetic
stimulation for depression therapy.
TWO examples of non ionsing radiation that help with medical
diagnosis and treatment are ultrasound and MRI.
,Ultrasound
, Principle
Ultrasound works on two primary principles.
The piezoelectric effect, in which ultrasonic is generated by crystals
in the transducer, is the first principle. The crystals in the
transducer begin to vibrate and distort once an electric current
flows via a cable. The ultrasonic beam is created by the vibration of
these crystals. This means that the frequency of the ultrasonic
beam is predetermined by the crystals.
