Unit 3 Social Media for Business
Assignment 2 - Evaluating the use of social media in business.

Joanne’s Music Club
Introduction

Music is a form of art that allows people to express themselves. Yes, music is also a source of
entertainment however it is a universal language which everyone is familiar with. Music can raise
someone's mood, get them excited, or make them calm and relaxed. Which in this case will benefit
the students attending my club is it will allow them to step away from lessons and schoolwork,
instead let them focus on having fun and enjoying themselves.

The Music Club will provide every member with the opportunity to learn and develop a deeper
understanding of music through performances, activities and maybe some trips. Learning music
promotes creativity, and students learn to want to create good work, learn new skills and obtain
broader social skills.

The Goals of the Music Club would be to encourage club unity through:

 Listening to music, all genres, or the most requested genre.
 Playing musical instruments.
 Discussions about music.
 Singing and performing.
 Writing songs or making your own tunes.
 Having students share music with each other.
 Socialise and make new friends.
 Play some games for example: guess the name of song.

The business aims of the club will be to:

 Grow a following and community on social media of 30 the minimum.
 Have a minimum of 10 people participating and going to the club each night.
 Have a minimum of 15 likes on each social media post.
 Have a minimum of 3 shares each social media post.
 To have students inviting more of their friends into joining the club as well.

Social Media

The Music club will have pages set up on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The reason why we are
posting on these social media platforms is because the students are more likely to use Twitter and
Instagram rather than LinkedIn. Posting on social media will help promote the club and build the
community. It will let ‘Key Stage Three’ students know that there will be an after-school music club.

Post that will be published will advertise the Music club, presenting it as an all-inclusive club, share
music suggestions and recommendations of different genres to let students know that we are not
catering to a specific group of people but to everyone. We will also post about local events
concerning music that they would like to attend if they wanted to.

Social media will help improve the club by engaging more people causing them to join the club and
keep those who participate and are members up to date on days they cannot attend the club. Social
media encourages two-way communication helping me learn more about my target audience, their
interests, and collect feedback on how to improve the club.

Assignment 2 - Evaluating the use of social media in business.
Target Audience

My target audience are going to be ‘Key Stage Three’ students from years seven to nine, ages eleven
to fourteen. For all genders and ethnic groups. Anyone can participate and join the club if they want
to. Some students might have a musical instrument and would like to bring it in, which is welcomed.
However, having an instrument is not a requirement or needed in order to join the club, as the club
is not just about playing instruments but also singing, maybe making their own music and socialising.
However, if a student does not have an instrument which they would like to play, the school will also
be providing instruments if needed.

Some participates and members of the music club may be into more creative subjects in school such
as Dance and Drama and of course Music however once again, anyone can participate and join the
club if they want to do anything related to music, play some musical instruments, sing, and maybe
make their own music, also if they want to just socialise and make some new friends who have
common interests.

My posts on social media will appeal to a wide range of students as I will make sure that the content
being published will be all inclusive show a variety of male and female members in the club enjoying
themselves and participating in activities.

Keywords Strategy

Keywords are ideas and topics that define what your content is about. In terms of SEO, they are the
words and phrases that searchers enter into search engines, also called "search queries." This gives
my club more traffic and acknowledgment by people especially if parents are searching for
something their child could do after school.

Main keywords used will be Music club, Music and Gravesend, these words relate to my core
service, industry, and location. Also using Google AdWords I was able to generate these keywords
which are the most used and repeated words searched by individuals. Using these keywords as my
hashtags will encourage social media users to explore content that catches their eye. I can use these
hashtags to reach my target audience and to help members filter information they want to find out
or encounter, sending them t my posts and channels.

Social Media Websites Selected

The social media websites I am planning to use are Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I am using
these specific platforms since my target audience are at the age of 11-14, as well as the secondary
audience being their parents and teachers which might use twitter more. My audience ais most
likely going to use the social media websites I have selected instead of another social media website
such as LinkedIn.

Facebook has a dominant position in the social media market which means that for my business,
Facebook is a must. My business is highly visual therefore using Instagram would be appropriate to
use for promotion due to it focusing on images and videos. Twitter can be used to share updates
about my club and share business news.

Social Media Policy

There are a number of risks and issues associated with the business use of social media, by creating
a social media policy I will be able to layout guidelines and expected behaviour for the use of social
media. The policies that will be in place for the use of my channels would be:
