The first amendment definition, in essence, is that as long as the people are engaging in religion, or want to express themselves in any speech medium also applying to the press, then the federal government cannot control their actions regarding these areas of free speech. A person’s will to peaceably assemble in protest of grievances is also part of the first amendment's definition.
