Describe the promotional mix used by two companies

a) Describe promotional activities:

What is meant by each of the following promotional activities? Give examples of where they have been used
by your case study brands. If they were not used by your case study brand you need to give an alternative
example.

1. Advertising;

Adverting is done when a new product or a new service is come into the market and it is done to know the
people know who don’t know about the new product or the service. It also means of communication with the
users of a product or service. This is also present because so that the customer knows about the product so
that they go and buy ii. Example may include TV, radio, newspaper, pop up ads and a campaign.

For Sagatiba the advertisement was done firstly by the window where there was a shop and the public can see
the people drinking Sagatiba that method was good because it attracted more new customers to come and
drink it. They also advertise through their slogan which is “pure so you don’t have to be”. For advertising they
decided to find a man model to advertise for them through posters and TV they started looking for a man
model that looked like a Rio statue of Christ. The team also created a TV and cinema ads along with still ads
that were used in back of the taxis, swimming pools and bars. This will attract more customers because lots of
people go into bars to drink and they will find this poster and this will persuade them to buy it, and as more
people buy it this will increase their sales.

For Frosties the adverting is when they made the poster of the product for advertising to be on tony the tiger
this was done to advertise and to attract more customers and this is a best type of advertisement for the
children because children always like the cartoon and if you do adverted like this then this will persuade more
children to buy the product. They have also advertised through TV which is a promo of a healthy boy running
singing and eating forties and looked healthy this might persuade the parents to buy the product because they
would also like their children happy and in the advertisement, and as more people buy this and as a result this
will have effect on the sales which will increase.

2. Personal selling/direct marketing;

Personal selling is an interpersonal part of the promotional mix and is usually done by face to face, video
calling or telephone. It may also include one to one selling and buying like in stores, cold calling (telephone)
and also junk mail. Direct marketing consist of direct connection with carefully targeted individual consumer to
both obtain an immediate response and cultivate lasting customer relationships. Direct marketing is a form of
advertising in which done by a person while marketing materials are provided to consumers in order to
communicate information about a product or service. Direct marketing is not adverting through internet,
poster, TV or a radio. There are many forms of direct marking and they are direct mail marketing, catalog
direct marketing, telephone marketing, and also online marketing etc.

Sagatiba does not do any personal selling or direct marketing however if they do this then they could increase
their sales by a big amount of money because for example if they both had a card like a club card or a nectar
card then this would attract more customers to collect points and then spend on it again. This would not relate
to Sagatiba because they don’t have a nectar card.
