Course Description
The clinical component of the N3515B course is designed to offer students the opportunity to apply
major theories and concepts necessary to provide holistic nursing care to adults from diverse
cultures with selected physiological disorders. These theories and concepts are introduced using a
wellness-illness continuum and serve as a basis for critical thinking and use of the nursing process
in the care of adult patients. Concepts such as health, culture, environment, aging, nutrition, and the
professional nurse role in direct patient care in collaboration with other health care providers are
addressed. Students are provided with the opportunity to master nursing technologies in a variety of
laboratory and clinical situations.
Prerequisites/Co-requisites: N3511, N3515, N3517, N3540
Semester Hours: 2 course credit hours (90 clinical clock hours)
Clinical Faculty: Faculty in the Clinical Performance Lab and Hospital are TBD
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate nursing care delivery based on the NCSBN Clinical Judgment
Measurement Model (NCJMM) in the fundamentals of nursing care of adult patient
populations in clinical settings. (AACN 1.3)
2. Demonstrate nursing care delivery based on the NCSBN Clinical Judgment

3. Demonstrate effective communication strategies in the fundamentals of nursing
care of adult patient populations in clinical settings. (AACN 2.1, 2.2)
4. Demonstrate holistic assessment skills in the fundamentals of nursing care of
adult patient populations in clinical settings in clinical settings. (MCN 2.3)
5. Identify priority health issues in the fundamentals of nursing care of adult
patient populations in clinical settings. (MCN 2.4)
6. Develop a plan of care to maintain, improve, or optimize the health status in the
fundamentals of nursing care of adult patient populations in clinical settings.
