Introduction
IoT (internet of things), connecting and sharing data through the internet. Objects are
embedded with technology that has the sole purpose of data sharing. From your household
objects to industrial tools etc. This is important in today’s world because connecting everyday
objects to a cloud allows for people, things, and processes to have seamless communication.
Using minimal human intervention in the hyperconnected world, the cloud, mobile technologies,
and analytics get collected and shared through the internet (Oracle, n.d.). In 1999 a computer
, scientist by the name of Kevin Ashton had the thought of placing RFID (radio-frequency
identification chips) on products to track them within the supply chain. Now not only being used
to track products you can now communicate with products away from home, smart appliances
and homes make it easier to control your thermostat, stove, fridge, etc.
Telepresence allows an individual to perform tasks and actions from a distant and even
virtual location, just as if they were present in the location. Often combined with augmented
reality, blending a meeting room with virtual things like a hologram. A big one is what they call
a digital twin, here you can create a digital copy of a real-world place and setting for the aide in
everyday jobs. For example, digital twin can create a layout of a city’s water system and public
works and other services can conduct job scenarios or use the layout to work advantages without
having to be within the water system physically (Spacey, 2023). In 1980 a futurist Patrick
Gunkel introduced the term to the public article by Minsky. This outlined his vision of giving
a remote individual a feeling of being present from a different location.
