Structure: according to National Library of Medicine (2022) Cimetidine is a histamine type 2 receptor antagonist (H2 blocker) which is widely used for treatment of acid peptic disease and heartburn. Cimetidine has been linked to rare instances of clinical apparent acute liver injury. It enhances anti-tumor cell-mediated responses, cimetidine blocks histamines ability to stimulate suppressor T lymphoccyt6e activity and to inhibit natural killer (NK) cell activity and interleukin-2 production. According to Mayo Clinic (2022) H2-receptor antagonists, also known as H2 blockers in which Cimetidine is a class are used to treat duodenal ulcers and prevent it reoccurrence.
