Written according to the citation rules of the art history department of the UU (adapted Chigago Manual Style). In this research essay, information is gathered about the life of a thirteenth-century English monk Matthew Paris with a focus on his self-portrait. Art critics have different opinions about the monk's achievements in his medieval manuscripts and in this essay, the most important developments in the world of art criticism regarding Paris are summed up.
