Embalming - Answer-The process of chemically treating the dead human body to reduce the presence
and growth of microorganisms, to temporarily inhibit organic decomposition, and to restore an
acceptable physical appearance.
Sanitation - Answer-A process to promote and establish conditions which minimize or eliminate bio
hazards.
Disinfection - Answer-The destruction and or inhibition of most pathogenic organisms and their products
in or on the body.
Temporary Preservation - Answer-the science of treating the body chemically so as to temporarily inhibit
decomposition.
Restoration - Answer-Treatment of the deceased in the attempt to recreate natural form and color.
OSHA - Answer-Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a government agency in the Department
of Labor to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Vascular Embalming - Answer-The use of the blood vascular system of the body for temporary
preservation, disinfection and restoration; accomplished through injection of embalming solutions into
the arteries and drainage from the veins And is the most common type of embalming.
Surface Embalming - Answer-Done on the surface tissues through the use of direct contact with
chemicals used to preserve the body.
,Hypodermic Embalming - Answer-Injection of embalming chemicals directly into the tissues through the
use of a syringe and needle or a trocar.
Cavity Embalming - Answer-direct treatment, other than vascular (arterial) injection, of the contents of
the body cavities and the lumina of the hollow viscera; usually accomplished by aspiration and injection
of chemicals using a trocar.
Legal consideration for embalming - Answer-Authorization to embalm (MUST GET IT) PREFERABLY IN
WRITING.
VERBAL PERMISSION: ok for temporary measures but must try to get in writing as soon as possible.
WRITTEN PERMISSION: Try for written Permission at the removal,If unable try at the arrangement
conference and if still not able just note who gave permission and when.
Authorization for procedure other then embalming.

,CALL POLICE FIRST - Answer-Responsibility to report certain observations concerning situations
inconsistent with presumed cause of death
Medical Examiner - Answer-An official elected or appointed to investigate suspicious or unnatural
deaths. they do not do Inquests.
Coroner - Answer-An official of a local community who holds inquests concerning sudden, violent ,and
unexplained deaths.
Preparation Room - Answer-that area or facility wherein embalming, dressing, Cosmetizing, or other
body preparation are effected
