1. When discussing merchandise legislation mandates that the consumer be
offered a minimum of 3 choices for caskets. What are they?- Answer - One that is neither
lined on the interior nor ornamented on the exterior, and two that may have a lining and/or ornamentation.
2. Why is it important to know what it is you need to present to the client
family when it comes to merchandise?- Answer - You need to ensure it is information that is relevant to
them. Example- Answer - You wouldn't want to discuss metal caskets for an individual being cremated. Metal
doesn't burn, and in Ontario, a body being provided for cremation must be in a combustible container
Ensure you know the specifics of what you're presenting to the family. If you are presenting the actual product, make
sure you know how it work.
3. Why is it important to never push or guilt the family into a purchase?- Answer -
You NEVER want to take advantage of a family. Not only is it just a dick move, doing so could cause professional
misconduct charges to be laid by the regulatory body.
4. What is the importance of a completing a contract?- Answer - A completed contract legally
binds your establishment to the purchaser. The completion is an important task because you, as the representative are
responsible for ensuring the contract meets all the legislated requirements, have all prices included so your company does
not take a loss and also does not overcharge.
5. Why was the BAO's consumer guide created?- Answer - To help educate the consumer when
needing to make bereavement-related arrangements of any kind
The guide is required to be provided to a potential purchaser before negotiating a contract
6. When did it become a requirement for every operator ensure their website
contains a link to, or electronic copy of, the Consumer Information Guide?-
Answer - July 2021. It is also required that the website has the establishment's price list so that anyone can have a
chance to obtain and read the guide before interacting with a provider.
7. At what point can a pre be changed?- Answer - Pre-arrangements can be changed at any time

A client family always has the option of providing their casket. As a professional you may not refuse to accept this option, nor
can you charge anything to the purchaser when this option is selected.
10. What can a provider require of a family if they make the choice to bring in
their own casket?- Answer - The establishment is in its right to require the purchaser or his/her representative
to be in attendance when the merchandise is brought into the care of the establishment.
The establishment may also have the purchaser sign a waiver, indemnifying the establishment from any liability should
anything happen because of a flaw in the workmanship of the casket.
