- must be on an IFR flight plan with properly rated pilot and aircraft, two way radio
comms, mode C
- Over continental US, most of Alaska, and territorial waters out to 12nm offshore

Class B airspace - Answer- - Surface to 10000 MSL around nation's busiest airports
- resembles an upside down wedding cake and shape is tailored to specific needs of the
airport it serves

, - ATC clearance into airspace
- Two way radio comms

Class C airspace - Answer- - Airports with control tower and radar approach control
- inner circle of 5nm radius, surface to 4000 AGL
- outer circle radius of 10nm, 1200-4000 AGL
- two way radio comms
- Mode C

Class D airspace - Answer- - airport with a control tower
- 4nm radius, surface to 2500 AGL

AGL)

MSL (in theory but this is now pretty rare)

Airways and Routes - Answer- Standardized routing of air traffic as corridors between
two or more radio navaids

VOR Airways (victor airways) - Answer- Class E airspace from 1200 AGL to 17999 MSL
and 4nm right and left from centerline of airway (8nm total width)

Jet Routes - Answer- Class A airspace 18000 MSL to FL450, no defined width (FL450
cap to prevent navaid station interference with similar frequencies)

Mode C requirements - Answer- - in A,B,C airspace and above B,C airspace
- above 10000 MSL
- within 30nm radius mode C veil surrounding f class B airports
