I chose UMass Hospital as I work there as a registered nurse in
the ER. I have been in the UMass hospital system since the
COVID-19 field hospital in 2019. I love working for this
hospital and thought learning as much as possible would be a
good idea.

UMass Memorial is a short-term acute care facility. UMass is a
level-one trauma center for adults and pediatrics. This facility
provides expert care in the following specialties: Emergency
Services, Cardiovascular,
Neurosciences, Oncology, Organ Transplant, Radiology/Nuclear
Medicine, Orthopedic Services, Obstetrics, Wound Care,
Inpatient Surgery, and Rehabilitation Services. (American
Hospital Directory, 2022).
The Joint Commission accredits UMass Memorial with full
standard compliance.

The type of control for the UMass Memorial is "Voluntary,
nonprofit." This means that UMass has tax exemptions and
benefits defined by the IRA, as long as none of their earnings

autonomy in decision-making that can be better aimed at clinical
