Digital Communication Written Notes
This course is meant to provide a strong foundation for further study, research and industry practice in the area of communications. The main objective of the course is to learn the engineering principles and analytical techniques required to design reliable high-speed digital communication systems. In particular, the focus of this class is the reliable transmission and reception of finite-alphabet (i.e. digital) symbols over time-invariant linear dispersive channels with noise. Doing so, as you will see, is nontrivial. The wireless classes we offer at UT Austin introduce time-variant channels and multiple access (i.e. multiple transmitting users sharing the same channel) to the mix.
