What are the four types of Hypoxia? (3-04.93) - ✅✅Hypoxic, hypemic, histotoxic, and stagnant
Describe hypoxic hypoxia - ✅✅Occurs when there isn't enough oxygen in air or pressure prevents
oxygen from lungs to bloodstream. Usually occurs at high altitudes due to reduction in pressure of
oxygen in atmosphere.
Describe hypemic hypoxia - ✅✅Caused by a reduction of the bloods oxygen carrying capacity. Anemia
and bloods loss are most common causes.
Describe histotoxic hypoxia - ✅✅Caused by interference with oxygen in body tissue. Causes could be
alcohol, narcotics, and certain poisons such as cyanide.
Describe stagnant hypoxia - ✅✅Oxygen capacity is adequete but circulation is inadequate. Could be
caused by heart failure, gravitional forces , or poor circulation.
What are the oxygen/altitude requirements for flights in an unpressurized aircraft? (95-1) -
✅✅Aircrew on flight above 10,000 feet PA for more than an hour, above 12,000 feet PA more than
thirty minutes. Aircrew and PAX on flights above 14,000 feet PA for any period. And for flights above
14,000 oxygen prebreathing must be accomplished by aircrew.
When climbing should you valsalva? - ✅✅No you may yawn and swallow to relieve pressure, but the
valsalva should only be preformed during descent.
What are the 12 hour restrictions for performing crew duties? - ✅✅Alcohol, Simulator sickness,
Immunizations, Anesthesia (Local, Regional, Dental)
What is stress? - ✅✅Stress is the nonspecific response of the body to any demand placed on it.
What are the types of stressors? - ✅✅Psychosocial, Enviromental, Physiological, Cognitive
, Define Psychosocial stress - ✅✅Life events that may trigger adaptation or change in lifestyle, career,
and/or interaction with others.
Define Enviromental stress - ✅✅Stress resulting from flight enviroment (temperature, unconfortable,
sunlight)
Define Physiological stress - ✅✅Self-imposed stressors (Death)
Define cognitve stress - ✅✅how an individual percieves a given situation
How long can you go before your helmet is inspected? - ✅✅120 days (180 at Rucker)
What does AR40-8 cover? - ✅✅Exogenous Factors
