The Prokaryotic Cell
Bacteria (Monera) are
prokaryotes
Remember: Viruses are acellular
And everybody else is eukaryotic
, Prokaryotes
• do not possess a nucleus
• do not possess any other membrane bound
organelles. (Remember that ribosomes are not
true organelles so everyone has them, except
whom?)
• Prokaryotes in general have cell walls
composed of peptidoglycan
• There are also various genetic differences
• Basically, they are simple and streamlined!
