ALGEBRA 1 CLASS FOR LESSON 1 LESSON 2
LESSON 3 REC. ON 08-19-2025
LESSON 1
Topic/Objective:
Quantities, and their relationships with each other.
Identifying the independent and dependent quantities for the scenarios.
Matching graphs to an appropriate scenario.
Graph Modeling a scenario.
Key characteristics of graphs.
Similarities and differences between pairs of graphs and scenarios.
INDEPENDENT AND DEPENDENT QUANTITIES.
Graphs, independent and dependent.
INDEPENDENT QUANTITY x-axis domain input
DEPENDENT QUANTITY y-axis range output f(x) (see lesson 3 for details)
How do I identify independent and dependent quantities?
TIP: A scenario regarding TIME IS ALWAYS INDEPENDENT!!!
When the said value can be alone and not depend on anything in order to change, it would
be an INDEPENDENT value.
When the said value has to depend on a different value for it to CHANGE, it would be a
DEPENDENT value. (i.e. when one quantity is determined by another quantity.)
