HRM – FPX5060 Assessment 4

HR Challenge: The Employee Experience - Pathways to Employee Success and Retention

, The hospital is finding two primary issues with staff engagement and retention: high

rates of turnover in different roles and the losses incurred by the institution when key

workers depart. Regarding the first issue, one might wonder why the turnover rate is

increasing. Is it a result of the hospital's subpar management structure? Are the hospital's

staff members subjected to high physical or psychological requirements? No. This is

because employee experience standards are set too low. The hospital administration wants

to avoid attracting candidates with more

incentives or reward schemes; instead, they want staff to pick their hospital over others.

Even the current staff members feel undervalued and need more direction from their

superiors. Should management fail to show that staff members are valued and significant,

they will keep leaving

the institution in search of better opportunities. When you consider that competitors are

offering more benefits like free daycare, technical certification programs, tuition

assistance, scholarship programs, at-work fitness programs, and free childcare, you can

easily see why the hospital is losing patients e and experiencing increased problems with

daily operations. The second concern, about losing essential people, follows straight from

the first. If the hospital loses staff regularly, it also means losing knowledge and essential

individuals who keep up daily operations. The hospital is currently short-staffed in

numerous technical and support roles, and there are openings in several areas, including

nursing, radiology, pharmacy, and laboratory. Having so many openings can lead to many

problems. Each of these roles is essential to the operation and upkeep of a hospital.

According to recent studies, Mercy Hospital has noticed an uptick in employee

turnover, reaching unprecedented levels. The primary reason is aggressive recruitment
