Question 1: Hierarchy of Safety Management Controls

Safety management controls are measures implemented in the workplace to eliminate or reduce
risks and hazards that could cause injury, illness, or harm to employees. They form a systematic
approach to making the work environment safer.

The Five Levels of the Hierarchy of Controls

The hierarchy of controls is a framework for managing risk, prioritizing control measures from
the most effective to the least effective.

1. Elimination: This is the most effective method, as it involves physically removing the
hazard entirely from the workplace.
2. Substitution: This involves replacing the hazardous material or process with a safer
alternative. The hazard is still present but in a less dangerous form.
