Why is it important for Tesco to gain the corporation of its employees?
‘’Cooperation in the workplace can make the difference between success and failure for
many businesses.’’ It is important for Tesco to gain the corporation of its employees to
improve productivity and efficiency in the workplace, which are required to provide better
customer service and overall a good performance of the business and more profit.
Cooperating employees will also be happier and there will be an increase in job satisfaction
in the workplace and this will affect the quality of the customer service provided. Tesco
achieves cooperation of their employees by creating contracts of employment, carrying out
Disciplinary and Grievance procedures, Quality circles, suggestion schemes and investors in
people.
Contract of employment
‘’A contract of employment is an agreement between an employer and employee and is the
basis of the employment relationship. A contract 'starts' as soon as an offer of employment
is accepted. Starting work proves that you accept the terms and conditions offered by the
employer.’’ Contract of employment is a legal agreement between the employer and the
employee, it is for the employee to understand the term and conditions and agree to them.
It includes the hours that the employee will work, the pay, holidays, overtime pay,
responsibilities and duties. it does not include the obvious things that the employee should
not do such as stealing and other negative behaviours. The contract of the employee is
important for the business so they know that the employee is aware of what is required of
them, the contract begins as soon as when the employee is offered the job role. There are
many different types of contracts, including full time, part-time, fixed term contract and
zero hours. Contracts of employment help to gain the corporation of the employees
because this way they know about the job, the hours and the responsibilities. When the
employee accepts the position they have been offered, they are also agreeing to the terms
of the contract created by the employer which means they have to fully understand them
and follow the contract, and that they are also happy about the job role which helps Tesco
achieve employee corporation.

offered for permanent positions, and usually set out the employee’s salary or hourly wage.’’

contract of employment. Full-time contract helps to gain the corporation of employees
because it gives the employees a guaranteed salary and hourly wage. Other things that
include within the full time contract include holiday entitlements, pension benefits, parental
allowances and mortgages and help the employees to plan ahead because the working
hours are guaranteed. Full-time work is usually over 35 hours a week; and the hours are not
