A paralegal is an individual equipped with practical legal knowledge and skills who

legal services.
Five characteristics of a paralegal include:
1. Legally knowledgeable – Possesses a sound understanding of the law, the
legal system, and issues that affect society.
2. Good communicator – Explains legal rights, processes, and procedures in clear
and simple language that ordinary people can understand.
3. Ethical and trustworthy – Upholds confidentiality, demonstrates honesty, and
abides by professional and ethical rules of conduct.
4. Problem-solving oriented – Assists individuals in identifying appropriate legal
and community-based solutions to their challenges.
5. Community-driven – Works to empower and uplift communities by promoting
justice, human rights, and equality.
