ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Foundation Funding Analytics & Recommendation Dossier
Course Alignment: Data Analytics / Business Intelligence
Estimated Effort: 12–15 hours
Overview & Scenario
The Durante Foundation seeks a data-driven method to prioritize community grants for the
upcoming fiscal year. You have been given “Dataset_3” containing multi-year program
metrics (beneficiaries, costs, outcome ratings, geography, demographics). You will prepare
a professional dossier that cleans the data, analyzes drivers of impact, and recommends an
allocation strategy.
Learning Outcomes
• Clean and document a real-world dataset (audit trail, assumptions, data dictionary).
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and inferential testing to identify impact drivers.
• Build clear visualizations to support executive decision-making.
• Translate analytics into actionable funding recommendations with risk considerations.
Deliverables
A. Executive Summary (800–1,000 words): purpose, key questions, 3–5 insights, 2–3
recommendations.
B. Technical Report (1,500–2,000 words): methodology, data preparation, statistics,
limitations.
C. Visualization Appendix: ≥4 figures (e.g., distribution, correlation heatmap, geographic,
cohort trend).
D. Data Dictionary: variable names, types, units, missingness, transformation notes.
E. Reproducibility: either (1) code appendix (pseudo-code acceptable) or (2) numbered
steps for replication.
Detailed Task Requirements
1) Problem Framing
• Define 2–3 primary decision questions (e.g., “Which programs yield lowest cost per
successful outcome?”).
• Identify stakeholder constraints (budget, equity targets, geographic caps).
