-Perfusion assessment involves recognizing indicators of adequate and
inadequate perfusion.

-Central perfusion is noted by assessing heart rate and blood pressure.
(Vital signs)

-Cerebral tissue perfusion is indicated by the patient's mental status
(orientation to person, place, time, and situation); expected bilateral
movement and sensation; clear speech, presence of carotid pulses; and
absence of carotid bruit.

-Peripheral tissue perfusion is evident when the patient's extremities are
warm and appropriate color for race, and the dorsalis pedis and radial
pulse rates are within normal limits (60-100 beats per minute) with regular
rhythm, easily palpable, etc. Sufficient peripheral tissue perfusion also
evident when capillary refill time is < 2 seconds.

-Patients' self-report of adequate perfusion indicated by the presence of
warm hands and feet in addition to the absence of continuous pain in
fingers/toes/legs while walking.

-When performing a health history, nurses should ask patients to describe

State Board of Nursing

, Give this one a try later!

are individual nursing boards (by state) that collectively comprise and
represent The National Council for the State Board of Nursing. This council
protects the public's health and welfare by assuring that safe and
competent nursing care is provided by licensed nurses. The board of
nursing achieve this mission by **outlining the standards for safe nursing
care and issuing licenses to practice nursing.** Each state has its specific
licensing and regulatory body that decides the scope of practice for nurses
within its jurisdiction. This applies to our nursing practice as all aspiring
nurses have to take the state board exam to become a licensed practicing
nurse. The requirement for having to be licensed helps ensure that all
nurses have a baseline of knowledge for providing care to the public,
which protects them.
