Question 1: Addressing Bullying in Primary School
1.1 Recognising Bullying
At Malebo Primary School, bullying incidents are identified through multiple channels.
These include direct complaints from learners made to their teachers or school
counsellors, as well as reports submitted via a secure and anonymous digital platform
provided by the school. This multi-layered approach allows for early detection and
appropriate response to bullying behaviours.
1.2 Reporting Procedures
Learners are encouraged to report bullying by speaking in confidence to a staff member
they trust, such as a teacher or a counsellor. Alternatively, they can utilise a school-
managed anonymous online reporting tool. This helps to ensure that all learners,
including those who fear retaliation, feel safe to report any concerns.
1.3 Communication of Anti-Bullying Policy
Malebo Primary School takes proactive steps to ensure all members of the school
community are familiar with its anti-bullying policy. Information is distributed during
school assemblies, discussed in class, published in school newsletters, and made
available on the school’s official website. It is also presented to parents and guardians
during orientation sessions.
1.4 Awareness Campaigns
The school conducts regular awareness programmes aimed at preventing bullying.
These include talks from motivational speakers, learner-focused workshops, awareness
drives, and continuous implementation of values education programmes. These
initiatives are designed to create awareness and foster a respectful learning
environment.
