CARDIAC DYSRHYTHMIAS
Identify the following cardiac dysrhythmias using the 5-step method of
interpretation. Identify the treatment for each of the following dysrhythmias. All
rhythms are 6-second strips.
Rhythm: Regular Rate: 70 bpm
P wave: Saw-toothed Appearance PR Interval: Unmeasurable
QRS Complex: 0.08 seconds Interpretation: Atrial Flutter
Treatment: Administer adenosine (Adenocard, Adenoscan), anticoagulant, Beta-
blockers, Calcium channel blockers, Cardioversion and Catheter ablation.
Rhythm: Regular Rate: 210 bpm
P wave: absent PR Interval: Unmeasurable QRS Complex: Abnormal
Interpretation: Ventricular Tachycardia
Treatment: CPR, Antiarrhythmic medication, antitachycardia pacing or direct cardio
intervention or defibrillation. Procainamide, IV amiodarone, Sotatol. Epinephrine.
