1.1 Define inclusive pedagogy and list three key principles that guide its practice.

Inclusive pedagogy refers to an approach in education that aims to address and
respond to the diversity of all learners by recognizing their individual strengths and
needs, and ensuring full participation in the learning process. It seeks to avoid
marginalization by promoting equal access, collaboration, and a sense of belonging for
all learners (Florian & Black-Hawkins, 2011).
Three key principles of inclusive pedagogy:
1. Valuing learner diversity – recognizing that all learners are unique and bring
different experiences and backgrounds to the classroom.
2. High expectations for all – assuming all learners are capable of learning and
progressing.
3. Collaboration and shared responsibility – teachers work collaboratively with
others, including support staff and families, to ensure inclusive practices.
1.2 Compare and contrast how inclusive pedagogy addresses the needs of
learners with physical disabilities versus learners with learning disabilities. (5)
