Assignment 2
DUE 30 July 2025
, SECTION A: ANALYSIS OF LEARNERS IN THE CASE STUDIES
TOTAL: 50 MARKS
1. Comprehensive Analysis of Thabo Dlamini
1.1 Physical Development
Thabo Dlamini is a 15-year-old adolescent male who is undergoing noticeable physical
changes typical of middle adolescence. During this stage of human development, young
people experience significant biological transformations due to the activation of
hormonal systems, particularly the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Thabo’s tall
physique and muscular build reflect the accelerated growth and development of
secondary sexual characteristics, including increased height, deeper voice, and muscle
mass development.
His consistent participation in physically demanding extracurricular activities like soccer
and track aligns with the adolescent's enhanced stamina, coordination, and interest in
physical expression. These activities not only support physical well-being but also
contribute positively to mental health, emotional regulation, and social development.
Educators must recognize the importance of physical activity in adolescent development
and incorporate movement-based learning and wellness programs in the school
curriculum. It is also important to note that while Thabo appears physically confident,
adolescents at this age often compare themselves with peers, potentially leading to
issues with body image or self-worth if differences exist. Teachers should therefore
foster an environment that discourages harmful comparisons and encourages body
positivity and inclusiveness.
