ESSAY
Cockroaches are also night insects and we do not want these things to be
near us, and such relation correlating to law enforcement evokes fear, spying
and danger of not being safe. This metaphor adds a new dimension of fear
that is in complete contrast to the warm and melodious mood created in the
first line of the song by religion.
Brutus keeps developing this mood of tension by dominating the poverty and
violence imagery. The lyric line of the song, where the author writes about the
shanties creaking iron-sheets, creates a clear image of informal settlements,
in which people live in poor conditions due to weak construction. The creak of
the metal is disturbing, as it insinuates physical pain as well as emotional pain.
Another disgusting image is the image used by involving the application of
violence like a rag infested with bugs is thrown overboard. In such a way, the
