Tabs/Contextual Tabs - -
Purposes of the Alt Key - -Hold down the Alt key when resizing an element in order for it
to snap to grids.
Uses of the CTRL and shift keys - -
Autofill - -A feature that allows you to quickly apply the contents of one cell to another
cell or range of cells selected.
Flash Fill - -Enters text based on patterns it finds in the data
Fill Series - -
Fill Handle - -A small square in the lower, right corner of a selected cell or range of cells.
Used mainly to copy data to adjacent cells. Eventually appears as a bolded plus sign.
Autofill Options - -Button that allows you to copy values with or without formatting, or the
format only
Display formulas (Alt +) or through the ribbon - -Displays the formula in each cell instead
of the value
Numeric formats - -Always right aligned. Can be monetary values, dates, etc.
Date formats - -Right aligned. Can be changed to include many different ways of putting
a date value.
Alignment/Orientation - -Defines where on the cell the text appears. Left, Right, Center.
Top, Bottom, Middle. Orientation refers to if the text is aligned vertically or horizontally.
Merge and Center - -A feature that enables you to automatically combine cells and
center the contents of the original far left cell in the new cell.
Wrap Text - -To move data to a new line when the cell is not wide enough to display all
the contents.
Rotating Text - -Allows you to change the angle of the text. Found in the Alignment
Group.

Conditional Formatting - -An Excel feature that enables you to specify how cells that
meet one or more given conditions should be displayed.
Data Bars - -A type of conditional formatting that creates filled background bars
reflecting the relative value stored in each of the formatted cells.
Highlighting Cells - -Can highlight cells based on certain rules. (Text that's greater than,
less than, equal to, contains, duplicate values)
Top/Bottom Conditional Formatting - -Allows you to highlight values based on if they're
in the top 10, bottom 10, top 10%, above averages (etc..). Can be any number or
percent set the format.
Cell Styles - -A combination of a font, text color, cell color, and other font attributes
applied to a single cell. Cell Styles are called Quick Styles in other Office programs.

Cell content formats - -
Default Alignment for text and for values - -Text is by default aligned to the left of the
cell. Dates and numeric values are by default aligned to the right of the cell.
Moving Worksheets - -Simply click and drag to move worksheets.
Copying Worksheets - -Right Click the sheet tab and then click "Copy"
Renaming Worksheets - -Right click the sheet tab and click "Rename", type the new
name and press Enter or double click the sheet tab.
Quick Analysis Tool - -A tool that displays in the lower right corner of a selected range
with which you can analyze your data by using Excel tools such as charts, color-coding,
and formulas.
Comments/Notes - -Comments can be added by right clicking on a cell and clicking new
comment, the comment will appear when you hover over the cell. Notes appear when
you go to the review tab and click on new notes. It also appears when you hover over
the cell.
Repeat Titles (Printing) - -Shows what rows/columns you want to repeat on every page.
Custom Header/Custom Footer - -Accessed by going to Page Setup.
Margins, Orientation, Paper size, No scaling, Page Range - -All tools to change the way
that a spread sheet is printed out.
