Who is eligible for a MA license? - answer a MA resident, at least 16 years old, and has
not had their license or right to operate revoked
License Class A - answer any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 or more
pounds
License Class B - answer any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds
license class C - answer any single vehicle or combination of vehicles that does not
meet the definition of class A or class B, but is designed to transport 16 or more
passengers(including the driver)
license class D - answer any vehicle or combination of vehicles that does not meet the
definition of class A, class B, Class C, or class M (typically passenger vehicles such as
cars, SUVs, or family vans)
license class M - answerany motor vehicle defined as a motorcycle
The length of a valid MA driver's license - answer5 years, typically expires on your
birthday
the soonest you can renew your license - answerone year before its expiration date
junior operator - answerany motor vehicle operator between ages 16 1/2 and 18
requirements to obtain JOL - answer- valid learner's permit for at least six consecutive
months
