Semester 1:

Transistor: A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical
power. Transistors are one of the basic building blocks of modern electronics. It is composed of semiconductor
material usually with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit (Each transistor has a bit. A
bit is a 0 or a 1)

Microprocessor: A microprocessor is a computer processor wherein the data processing logic and control is
included on a single integrated circuit, or a small number of integrated circuits

Semiconductor: Allows you to switch it on and off quicker

Binary: Of 2 states(True & False, 100010, On and Off)

72(base 10) = ____(base 2) = 1001000(base 2)
19(base 10) = ____(base 2) = 10011(base 2)

1001000 = 1*(2^6) + 1*(2^3) = 64 + 8 = 72

97(base 10) = ____(base 8) = 141(base 8)
141(base 8) = 1*(8^2) + 4*(8^1) + 1*(8^0) = 64 + 32 + 1 = 97

Base 16

9F then A1 … AF B0 … FF 100

F8(base 16) = 15*(16^1) + 8*(16^0) = 240 + 8 = 248
97(base 10) = ____(base 16) = 61(base 16)

1110 1101 0110 1101(base 2) = ED6D(base 16)

Base 16 to base 8: go to base 2 first
Base 8 to base 16: go to base 2 first

Kilobyte: About 1,000 bytes (1,024)

Ascii Table:
65 == A
97 == a
13 == Enter

Metadata: Data that provides information about other data (data about data)
Ex: Class averages its data like the scores and more data for calculating the averages
