The scenario given addresses a particular student who recently enrolled in a class where

they were familiar with the topic but not familiar with the procedures needed to go about the

class in the correct way. Though the student was able to successfully pass the pre-assessment,

they did not know of, nor understand the requirements needed to go about the Objective

Assessment which ultimately led them to fail the OA. The student could have taken a different

route to have accomplished the OA successfully. The student should have read through the

requirements listed within the syllabus as well as the student handbook to have successfully

, been prepared before the test. The student could have also reached out to the instructor to

help them get started with the class and become aware of the requirements. In the handbook

it states that “WGU requires that all students using online proctoring for their Objective

Assessments test within a secure environment. A secure environment is defined as a place that

is clear of any papers, books, and other materials. This includes any items on the walls around

them… The secure environment must also be clear of any other person(s) and the student is

the only person in the vicinity of the environment chosen for the test session...” (WGU 2023a).

In the scenario the student becomes impatient and frustrated that the checks and procedures

are taking too long creating a feeling of anxiety and causing them to rush through the test. But

if the student had versed themselves in the handbook, they would have been aware of all the
