Sir Winston Churchill was one of the most important figures in British history. Churchill was a
British politician, statesman, and writer who served as the Prime Minister of the United
Kingdom twice. He is best known for his leadership during World War II, when he inspired
the British people to persevere in the fight against Nazi Germany. But Churchill's
contributions to British history go far beyond the war. He was a prolific writer, a gifted

Churchill died on January 24th in 1965, at the age of 90. He had suffered a stroke several
weeks earlier, which left him in a coma from which he never recovered.
