Dear Brighter Bites,
Hello, my name is Casandra Kendrick, and I am a Pre-K teacher at Rosa Parks
Elementary. I am reaching out to seek assistance with the difficulties we are experiencing
at our school. As you are aware, there is a high cost of living in our area, which is causing
many of our families to face difficulties, such as failing to provide their children enough
food. My hope is to form a collaboration with your organization to assist establish a
connection between our school and the families we serve. “Collaboration between
communities and schools promote academic performance for children, fosters community
relationships, and supports learning, (O’Keefe, 2011).” By working with our school, your
organization will benefit our students that require enough food each day to support their
learning and academic achievement, in addition to helping struggling parents. Kids
receive free breakfast and lunch at school, but when they get home, they find little to no
food, and they have to wait until they go back to school the next day to eat. "These
difficulties can strain a child's emotions and contribute to loss of focus or acting out at
