2. Suction tracheostomy before removing the old dressing

3. Don sterile gloves
4. Use sterile solution of normal saline to clean inner cannula, not outer cannula
5. Rinse & dry inner cannula, reinsert it into the outer cannula
6. Cleanse the stoma & surrounding skin

7. Do not get solution into stoma
8. Change tracheostomy ties
9. Replace the trach dressing with a precut pad or gauze
10. Tie the tie to the sides
