Samenvatting Criminologische Psychologie
1: INTRODUCTIE FORENSISCHE PSYCHOLOGIE EN ONTWIKKELING
ANTISOCIAAL GEDRAG

Forensische psychologie: een introductie (1)
Overzicht
1. Forensische psychologie ¹
2. Forensische psychologie =
3. Psychologie & Recht
4. Forenische Psychologie in Beweging

1.1. Forensische psychologie ¹

Auteurs Definities
Toch, 1961 Science that studies the process whereby justice is arrived at …
examines the people who take
part in the process and looks at their purposes, motives, thoughts
and feelings
Gudjonsson & That branch of applied psychology which is concerned with the
Haward, 1998 collection, examination and presentation of evidence for judicial
purposes
Bartol & Bartol, 2008 “…we view forensic psychology broadly, as both (1) the research ..
That examines aspects of human behavior directly related to the legal
system … (2) the professional practice of psychology within, or in
consultation with, a legal system that embraces both civil and
criminal law”
Needs, 2008 FP is the application of methods, theories and findings from a wide
range of areas within psychology to the contexts and concerns of
criminal and civil justice. The settings in which forensic psychologists
work include the police, the courts, prisons, secure unites and
hospitals, probation and other community based services and
academia.

1.2. Forensische psychologie =
American Psychological Association’s speciailty guidelines for Forensic psychologists:

“Forensic psychology is a specialty in professional psychology characterized by
activities intended to
provide professional psychological expertise within the judicial and legal systems.”
“Forensic psychology refers to professional practice by any psychologist working within
any sub-discipline of psychology (e.g., clinical, developmental, social, cognitive) when
applying the scientific, technical, or specialized knowledge of psychology to the law to
assist in addressing legal, contractual, and administrative matters.”

1

,Vlaanderen:

grensoverschrijdend gedrag (o.a. preventie, bemiddeling en vrijwillige hulpverlening).

1. Verschillen in training: taalverschillen? Training?
a. Bv. gebruik andere termen, of zelfde termen maar in andere context – belangrijk
dit af te toetsen, discrepantie te vermijden

2

(psychologen)
3. Evidence-based toepassing van gedragswetenschappen in justitiële context:
a. Klinische vs. Wetenschappelijke opinie (klinische opinie is “maar” een opinie;
betekent niet dat het de wetenschap is)
c. Onbeantwoordbare juridische vragen
4. Verschillen in paradigma’s/visies:
a. Vrije wil <-> determinisme
b. Feiten
i. Het proces: preventie vs. Conflict
ii.
opdrijven zodat rechter bepaald besluit in hun voordeel neemt
c. Aard van het feit:
i. Van kans tot zekerheid? Bv. hoge kans op seksuele recidive
ii. Van groep naar individueel? Bv. hij vertoont een hoge mate van
psychopathie dus hij is gewelddadig

1.4. In beweging

evolueren)
o < 13e E: bezeten door de duivel
o 1505: eerste maal “insanity”
o 18e E: criteria (krankzinig = bestiaal; jury)

Evoluties binnen algemene psychologie
¨ Bv. inzichten in geheugenprocessen, psychodiagnostiek…

Sociale omwentelingen
dergelijke noden had); zeldzaam

3

, o 19e E: toename in rechtszaken
o 1960s: feminisme (schuld van de dader)
o 2010-…: seksueel misbruik in de kerk, sport, #METOO

Ontwikkelingen binnen justitie en psychologie
¨ Bv. stalking (1990; California – voor eerste keer in strafwet) & stalking (2016; wijziging
visie, België)
¨ Bv. voyeurisme (2016; België)
¨ Bv. online seksueel delictgedrag

Nieuwe “afzetmarkt”
¨ Bv. werving politieagenten
¨ Bv. analyse cybergedrag

Trainig – professionalisatie (nodig)
¨ Bv. postgraduaat Forensische psychodiagnostiek & counseling (Thomas More)
¨ Bv. PEV Forenische Psychiatrie & Psychologie (UA, VUB, KUL & Ugent)

Opbouw cursus
