Topic 1: Introduction to Microeconomics
Microeconomics is the branch of economics that studies individual agents and markets, such as
households, firms, and industries. It focuses on supply and demand, the behavior of individual
markets, and resource allocation decisions.
Topic 2: Demand and Supply
The law of demand states that, all else equal, as the price of a good increases, the quantity
demanded decreases. Conversely, the law of supply suggests that as the price of a good increases,
the quantity supplied increases.
Topic 3: Elasticity of Demand and Supply
Elasticity measures how sensitive the quantity demanded or supplied is to changes in price. Price
elasticity of demand (PED) indicates how demand changes when the price of a good changes.
Topic 4: Consumer Behavior
Consumer behavior focuses on how individuals make consumption decisions and allocate their
income among various goods and services to maximize their utility.
Topic 5: Production and Costs
Production theory focuses on how firms transform inputs (such as labor and capital) into outputs
(goods and services). Cost theory examines the relationship between the cost of production and the
level of output.
Topic 6: Perfect Competition
Perfect competition is a market structure characterized by many firms selling identical products,
easy entry and exit from the market, and perfect information among buyers and sellers.
Topic 7: Monopoly and Oligopoly
