Business Ethics Task 2
Dawna Snipes
A1. Employees Rights and Responsibilities
(1) Workers have a right to be given a full day's wage, for delivering a full day's job. Which is the
mutual benefit of an employee performing their job duties to the best of their ability, allowing the
company to succeed while also providing the worker with a sense of fulfillment and career
growth. Employees feel empowered to perform at their highest level, they are more likely to be
engaged and motivated in their work.
(2) Employees have a responsibility to continuously learn and update their knowledge within
their field to remain competitive and perform their job effectively, which is often referred to as
professional development and is considered a key aspect of maintaining professionalism in the
workplace.
(3) An employee has the legal right to work in a safe workplace with properly maintained and
approved safety equipment provided by their employer; essentially, this means they have the
right to working conditions. Meaning it is free from recognized hazards and access to
appropriate safety gear. This will ensure health and overall well-being of the employees. As well
as company responsibility because it will help in the prevention of accidents.
A2. Employers Ethical Responsibilities
Employers have ethical responsibilities to the employee while they work. Two of those ethical
responsibilities are but not limited to:
(1) Ensure all employees adhere to and conduct themselves in a manner that would not
be a misrepresentation of the standards and conduct of the company. The employer must
establish a code of conduct that should explicitly state a commitment to fostering a workplace
environment based on honesty, integrity, equality, and fair treatment. In which there is a clear
zero-tolerance policy against discrimination. Meaning all claims of discrimination will be taken
seriously and addressed promptly with appropriate consequences.
(2) The employers have a responsibility to treat workers fairly and provide an equivalent
workplace. This means they should ensure all employees are treated equally and with respect,
regardless of personal characteristics. Provide a working environment where everyone has the
opportunity to succeed, adhering to legal requirements and ethical standards. Examples of fair
treatment are equal pay for equal work, non-discriminatory practices, safe working conditions or
even fair performance evaluations.
