Coagulopathy - ANS-term for any condition that affects an individuals ability to coagulate occurs secondary to an autoimmune disorder or extensive blood loss in which platelets and clotting factors are lost. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) - ANS-coagulopathy that is an autoimmune disorder in which the lifespan of platelets is decreased by antiplatelet antibodies although platelet production is normal. Heparin Induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) - ANS-Immunity mediated clotting disorder that causes unexplained low blood platelet count as a result of treatment with heparin. Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) - ANS-is a life-threatening coagulopathy in which clotting and anticlotting mechanisms occur at the same time.
