Personal Cultural Profile
Introduction
My name is Jenna Freeborg, and I am a 31-year-old Caucasian woman who resides in Michigan.
English is my first and only language. I am attending the University of Arizona Global Campus
to receive my BA in Early Childhood Education with differentiated instruction specializing in
early intervention. I was brought up Baptist but currently do not attend any church. I am
currently a stay-at-home mom with my two boys, and we meet just above the line of low
socioeconomic status.
Demographics
According to Bevan (2020), culture is the influence on how we communicate and behave with
others in every way in our lives. Culture is how we teach our children beliefs Bevan (2020)
Growing up in Detroit I was used to seeing the different cultures and beliefs that surrounded me.
, My best friend was African American and enjoying my time over at their house consisted of
praying over all our meals, loud gospel singing and bible lessons at night before I went home.
My family personally was never big on any of these, so I took from them and made my family
start praying over our meals, which when we are at my parents’ house my oldest son now
enforces upon everyone. Moving to a small town at the very tip of the thumb, things were a lot
different up here, people were judged on race, speech and whatever else made them different to
other people in our area. Dealing with this kind of hate and judgement I decided when I had
children that I would teach them that we are all the same no matter what language we speak nor
the color of our skin
