Teacher Language
This part of the assignment is set to enable us to assess your language grading and concept checking. You should
show a) some of the language you would use in the presentation, and b) to give one instruction.

You must use direct speech, e.g. T: So everyone, look at this picture, please. What can you see?
S1: Man and woman
T: A man and a woman, yes, can anyone say a bit more?
S2: They're riding their bikes.
T: Excellent. Good. What are their names do you think?
S3: Donald and Melania.
T: Great idea! – So I'm putting that on the board (Teacher writes on the board 'Donald and Melania are riding their
bikes.')
You might need to put in some predicted student responses, as in the example above.
Check the examples in Unit 7 to make sure you understand what is required.
N.B. If you do not use direct speech, you will be required to resubmit the whole assignment.
This document should not be more than 3 pages long, including this page; approx 700-1000 words in total.
a) Presentation
You do not need show the entire presentation, but show us some of the language you would use to elicit the target
language from the context you have chosen, elicit the form and concept check.

Show the actual words you would use for:

i) eliciting the target language from the context
T: (looking at the examples from the warmer) Great examples! Alma, what will you do this afternoon?
S: I will go to the mountain with my dad
T: Super! I love mountains too! Pedro, what about you? What will you do this afternoon?
S: I will eat pizza! I reallyyyy pizzaaa
T: Fantastic! I really LIKE pizza too, Pedro. Do you know what I love doing in the afternoons?
S: go to the gym!, run!, cinema!
T: Yes, I love going to the cinema. So, in the afternoon, I will go to the cinema. Who will go to the cinema in the
afternoon?
S: Me will go to the cinema!
T: Yes, awesome Julian! Julian, what do you need to go to the cinema? What do you need to buy a ticket? (I will
act out that he needs money)
S: Money?
T: Super, yes! Fantastic! Money! You need money to buy a ticket. (I will write on the board “I will go to the
cinema this afternoon ______ I have money. What Word is missing?

, S: But? Because? And?
T: Good effort guys but not quite! Anyone knows it?
S: mmmm, if?
T: YES! If! Super, Alma! So, I will go to the cinema this afternoon….
S: (All together) If I have money
T: ( I will write the whole sentence on the board) I will go to the cinema this afternoon if I have money. Do you
know the name of this tense?
S:….. No
T: It is the first conditional. We use it to talk about POSSIBLE future plans and the result of those plans. ( I will
copy this on the board)
I will elicit negative form of the tense. I will write all the elicited examples on the board and ask students to
copy them on their notebook. (Board plan)

ii) eliciting the form (board plan)
T: Now, let´s have a look at the form of the first conditional. (I write on the board the “if” clause first – If I have
money and underline the “I”) Great, so in this clause we have “if” followed by (I will point at the underlined
Word)
S: Subject.. The subject.
T: Perfect! The subject ( I write on the board If + subject +). Now, after the subject, what do we have there?
S: Have
T: Yes, but have is a….
S: Verb!
T: Excellent! A verb. And, in what tense is the verb? Is it future?
S: No, present!
T: Very good Alma, simple present! ( I will add it in here if + subject + verb in simple present) (I will write the
main clause on the board I will go to the cinema this afternoon) (pointing at the first part of the sentence) So,
what is this?
S: I?
T: Yes, I.
S: Subject
T: Superb, Pedro. What about will? What is that? What do you think Maria?
S: Is a thing for future! I put will and verb for say future.
T: Great, yes! We use the auxiliary verb will when we want to talk about the future. So, will is followed by? ( I
point at the verb on the board)
