, Statics
The branch of mechanics that is concerned with the analysis of loads (force and torque,
or “moment”) on physical systems in STATIC EQUILIBRIUM, that is in a state where the
relative positions of subsystems do not vary over time, or where components and
structures are at a constant velocity.


They stay still. (The object in its overall position in space)


If it stays still EVERY PART OF IT STAYS STILL (Ignore deflection)


So, we can figure out what it takes to stay still (even if we pretend chop it up into bits)


Force
Newton’s Second Law: Force is the product of mass and acceleration

F = m(kg) ∗ a(m/s2 )

Force has magnitude and direction and is represented by a vector. The common unit of
force (F) is a kN (kilonewton) which is 1000 N. 1 N (Newton) is equal to 1 kg m/s²

A vector does not have to be a force, it is any value that shows direction and
magnitude.

sum of all the vectors is the vector from
the first tail to the final tip.
