Recap - WHAT IS SOCIAL CONTROL? - ANS-Social control refers to any strategies for
preventing deviant human behaviour.

We encourage everyone in society to conform to the law and any course of action that helps to
achieve this is a form of social control.

Any action that tries to persuade members of society to conform to the rules.

What are the Police's Aims & Objectives? - ANS-Arrest;
Detention,
Search,
Interview,
PACE Act 1984.

The police take charge of the crime scene and make sure no unauthorised person can access
the scene.

They also make sure the evidence doesn't become cross contaminated.

They attend and aid harmed individuals and take care of the community.

Arresting takes place if the suspect is still at the scene.

The police carry out set rules, such as objects shouldn't be moved and to make sure protective
equipment is worn.

The golden hour is the time straight after a crime has been committed, this is important for the
police because lots of evidence is available.

Drug squads, Criminal investigations department (CID) and Firearms are classed as different
units which specialise in specific areas, for the police force.

Other responsibilities that are included in the role of the police force are taking accounts from
victims and interrogating suspects.

What is the Police's Funding? - ANS-Central government grants and Council tax.

In 2018/2019 the total budget from the government and taxes funded England's police force a
budget of £12.3 Billion.

The government fund the police force partly, as the public's taxes go towards the funding.
