Thyroid and lymph nodes impalpable."
(See next flashcard for lymph nodes.) CORRECT ANSWERS How would you document
ROM?
Use gentle circular motion of your fingerpads. Begin with preauricular lymph nodes in
front of ear, then continue on to 10 other lymph nodes in routine order. (See page 261
of Jarvis.) Use gentle pressure when palpating. Palpate with BOTH hands as a way to
compare R and L sides. For singular nodes, such as the submental node, use the other
hand to position the person's head.
Note: If nodes are palpable, note location, size, delimitation (discrete or matted
together), mobility, consistency, and tenderness. Also, take note of where they drain for
the source of any problem.
Normal nodes are moveable, discrete, soft, and nontender.
*Documentation included in ROM documentation in previous flashcard.* CORRECT
