Lab 1 - Physics 204

Introduction

For this lab, the speed of sound was explored. With the use of a simulation the effects of

certain variables were observed on the speed of sound.

Procedure

This experiment required the use of the physics aviary simulation of the speed of sound.

The simulation allowed us to detonate a charge at varying distances in a hot desert. The charge

was detonated 3 times and average calculated then the distance was changed, this was done 7

times total. The data was then observed for trends. The second part of the experiment involved

keeping a constant distance but changing the climate temperature. The charge was detonated 3

times, average time calculated, and the data was plotted yet again and observed for trends.
