What will be the most challenging aspect in becoming a deputy? ✅✅ANSW-I am not as fluent in
Spanish as I previously have been. and I feel that would be an area of improvement for me in order
to best serve as a Sheriff's deputy.
When have you possessed and demonstrated integrity? ✅✅ANSW-On a daily basis at work I am
presented with the opportunity to commit fraud, be unethical, or cut corners. There are safeguards
against this, but ultimately it is up to me to be honest every moment that I am in a position of public
trust. I have found money loose in the mailstream that nobody would have noticed if I took, but I
reported it and turned it in to a supervisor. Or items that I actively wanted to purchase that were
loose in the mail, but instead of giving in to temptation, sending the items to our merchandise
reclamation center.
When have you excelled at multi -tasking? ✅✅ANSW-Part of the understanding of my job
description when I got hired at the post office was that there is a strict chain of command. I was told
I had to be willing to follow orders, even if another superior gave me an order that contradicted
what I was doing or what I was previously told. I had to adapt and roll with scenarios that would
constantly change. Often times being assigned multiple tasks simultaneously that I was responsible
for. I had to vocalize if I felt I couldn't do it on my own because if any of my tasks didn't get
completed I would solely be held accountable.
When have you shown courage and demonstrated leadership at work? ✅✅ANSW-One time I
showed courage was by respectfully challenging my superior because they had given me an order
that I proved violated our national policy. They wanted me to stop collecting revenue deficiencies
and I argued and successfully proved that that violated the ethics of the responsibilities I have in my
current role
Explain to me how you work in a team environment. ✅✅ANSW-I feel that teams are essential to
completing a common goal. In a professional setting regardless of personal opinions or conflicts of
interest, a team must work cohesively. I believe it is up to all of the individuals of that team to bring
their best self, so as a team member I always come prepared, and always make sure I am a
productive member rather than a passive member. I believe a team leader should be open minded
and foster the cooperation and direction of the team. As a team leader I always hear out concerns of
team members and try my best to guide the team objectively towards the goal we have been
assigned.
, How have you shown assertiveness at work? ✅✅ANSW-At work on Sundays we operate on a
small crew. instead of the usual 10 to 13 people we are cut to 5 or 4. so there is no room for
inefficiency or errors. There is no lead position for Sundays, but somebody needs to fill the role to
ensure that people are completing their tasks and that everyone is participating in completing our
objective. On Sundays I lead our team, I respond to issues, or contact management if a severe
problem arises, and I assign the individual tasks to ensure everything gets completed. I do not give
my team an order that I myself would not be willing to complete. I like to hold myself to the same
standard and participate 100%.
Give an example of when you have upheld the public's trust in the Post Office. ✅✅ANSW-
Sometimes there are items we come across that have no tracking and if they were to go missing,
would be almost impossible to trace. In my position all of such items get sent to me for the proper
action to be taken. Either connecting them with their respective owners through some investigating
or disposing of them through the proper channels. I find great pride in hunting down the people who
rightfully have ownership of the items and connecting the item to them. I feel its rehabilitative to
our brand and the right thing to do. it restores people's faith in others.
When have you shown responsibility and integrity at work? ✅✅ANSW-I am a big believer in
accountability. I believe people do not take responsibility for their actions in the way that they
should. If something was done incorrectly at my hand I will admit to it and try to make it right. I feel
it us better to bring things to managements attention before they know about it because there is
often still enough time for corrective action on our end. To build trust with others I try to be honest,
and have a reputation that others respect.
How have you demonstrated courage in the work place? ✅✅ANSW-strength in the face of pain
How have you taken responsibility for the well being of others? ✅✅ANSW-At my current job I
volunteered to be on our safety team. I am the only active representative for the clerk craft. it is an
uncompensated position but allows me to act as a voice for the clerks in my office. I take their
concerns seriously and document them in my notepad and follow up with them on the actions I have
taken to address their concerns. (talk about the holes in the floor)
How do you exercise good judgement? ✅✅ANSW-Good judgement by definition should be
objective. I try to remove personal opinion from the equation and thing about what the conflict is
and which course of action would best benefit the team to achieve our goal.
How to respond under stress? ✅✅ANSW-my senses become heightened and my mind clears
during periods of high stress. I become hyper aware of my surroundings.
