Basic Arrhythmias Ch 5
1. Atrial Rhythms Page 110
Rhythms that originate in the atria
2. Diphasic Page 110
The wave goes above AND below the isoelectric line
3. Wandering Pace- Page 110
maker
REGULARITY: RR Interval vary slightly as pacemaker site moves; the rhythm can be
slightly irregular
RATE: The atrial and ventricular rates are equal; heart rate is usually within a normal
range (60-100 bpm) but can be slower.
P WAVE: Morphology of the P WAve alters as the pacemaker site changes. There is
one P Wave in front of a QRS.
PRI: PRI measurement will change slightly depending on the pacemamker site. All
measurements should be less than 0.20 second
QRS: Measures less than 0.12 second
4. Premature Atrial Page 112
Complex
REGULARITY: Depends on the underlying rhythm, since it will inturrupt
RATE: The overall heart rate will depend on the rate of the underlying rhythm
P WAVE: It will be ditterent than the other P Waves, and can be hidden in the T
Wave of the preceding complex.
PRI: Should be in the range of 0.12-0.20 second, but can be longer. It can be
1/4
