work done? <Ans> A maintenance check is performed prior to each flight. Service engine

the work done? How involved is the work done for each check? How long is the
aircraft down for maintenance? <Ans> A checks are done every usually around 400-
700 FH, things such as filters might be changed, liquids will be refilled, emergency items
will be checked and other quick tasks. An A check will take several hours and is somewhat
detailed although compared to other letter checks it is
not very detailed. Also, A checks are usually done in a hanger as different tools are needed
C checks are done every 1.5 to 2 years or if the aircraft has around 3000-5000 FH. They
take about 3-7 days to complete and is done C checks include everything in a A check but
also include things such as routine, variable-routine, and nonroutine checks. They are very
detailed and take a while if you don't have a lot of staff to work on them.
3. Routine Tasks <Ans> Routine tasks are tasks that are performed at a specific interval.
Time to perform will vary and can be detailed or non-detailed.
4. Variable-routine Tasks <Ans> tasks will include things such as SBs and ADs, floot
campaigns, deferred items, and other one-time actions. When planning these, the time to
finish is usually a fixed number of days or a date.
5. Non-routine Tasks <Ans> After another task has been completed you may have to
do a non-routine task. Such as if you are to inspect if there is a fuel line leak, and you
discover that there is indeed a leak, you will have to perform non-routine maintenance.

functions of PP&C are to maximize maintenance and Engineering efforts, plan and
organize future work, and Adjust plans/schedules to meet changing requirements.
7. Why is forecasting maintenance so important? <Ans> Forecasting maintenance is
so important as it helps minimize the future workload of the maintenance depart- ment. It
also allows maintenance to start faster and end quicker. Spreading out the workload allows
for less staff to be working on the same project, making it much more efficient.
8. Identify some reasons why maintenance may be deferred. <Ans> Maintenance may
be deferred if there is a lack of parts, labor, and or time. Maintenance can be scheduled but
that does not mean that it cannot be deferred due to the reasons listed above.
