This paper is divided into three sections:
Section A Listening 35 marks
Section B Translation 10 marks
Section C Multi-skill task 30 marks

You are, however, advised to allocate your time as follows:

o Practice Listening: Regularly practice listening to Bengali news, podcasts, radio programs, or
interviews. This will help you get accustomed to different accents, speeds, and vocabulary.
2. Reading Comprehension:
Variety of Texts: The reading section will consist of various texts like articles, advertisements, short
stories, or opinion pieces.
Key Strategies:
o Skimming and Scanning: Quickly skim through the text to get an overall understanding, then
scan for specific information when answering questions.
o Vocabulary: Be familiar with a wide range of vocabulary, especially related to topics like social
issues, culture, education, and politics, as these are common themes in reading texts.
o Context Clues: If you encounter unfamiliar words, use the surrounding context to infer their
meanings.
3. Writing:
Tasks: You will be required to complete written tasks based on the listening and reading texts. This
may include:
o Summarizing: Condense key points from the listening or reading texts into a coherent
summary.
o Opinion Essays: Write an essay discussing a topic related to the reading or listening
materials.
o Creative Writing: You may be asked to write a letter, diary entry, or short story in Bengali,
where you need to showcase your language proficiency.
Key Writing Skills:
o Clear Structure: Organize your writing with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Make
sure your ideas are logically presented.
o Use of Grammar: Ensure that your writing is grammatically accurate. Focus on correct verb
conjugations, tenses, and sentence structures.
o Varied Vocabulary: Use a range of vocabulary to avoid repetition. Incorporate topic-specific
words and phrases.
o Formal and Informal Writing: Depending on the task, adapt your tone to be formal (e.g.,
essays, formal letters) or informal (e.g., diary entries, personal letters).
4. Time Management:
Prioritize Tasks: Allocate appropriate time to each section. Make sure to leave some time for
reviewing your answers, especially for the writing tasks.
Balanced Focus: Don’t rush through the reading and listening sections. Take your time to understand
the text and the context before answering questions.
