Sanitary Facilities and Controls : Sewage - Answer-All sewage, including liquid water,
shall be disposed of by a public sewerage system or by a sewerage disposal system
constructed and operated according to law.
Sanitary Facilities and Controls : Plumbing - Answer-Plumbing shall be sized, installed,
and maintained according to law. There shall be no cross-connection between the
potable water supply and any other water supply or other source of contamination.
Hand Sinks SHALLs (4) - Answer-(1) Hand sinks shall be designed, installed, and

maintained according to law. There shall be separate toilet rooms and/or toilet fixtures
to accommodate clients and operators; however, a common restroom may suffice for
facilities that have separate equipment cleaning and hand washing areas for personnel.
(2) Each toilet room shall have at least one hand sink.. (3) Toilet rooms opening directly
into work or client waiting areas shall be completely enclosed doors.
(4) All toilet rooms shall have sufficient ventilation (5) Toilet fixtures shall be kept clean
and in good repair. A supply of toilet tissue shall be provided at each toilet at all times.
Toilet rooms shall have at least one covered waste receptacle.
Solid Waste SHALS (6) - Answer-(1) Garbage and refuse shall be kept in durable,
easily cleaned containers that do not leak and do not absorb liquids. Containers shall be
kept in a clean and sound condition and solid waste shall be disposed of according to
O.C.G.A. 12-8-20. (2) Garbage containers used in work areas shall be kept covered
when not in use and after they are filled. (3) There shall be a sufficient number of
containers to hold all the garbage and refuse that accumulate. (4) Solid waste stored
outside shall be kept in closed containers and removed at such frequency to prevent the
development of odor and the attraction of insects, rodents, or vermin. (5) Regulated
waste that may release liquid blood or body fluids when compressed or may release dry
blood or body fluids when handled must be placed in an approved bag marked with an
international biohazard symbol. Disposable needles and other sharp items shall be
, placed intact into puncture-resistant containers with a biohazard label before disposal.
Filled sharps containers and biohazard bags shall be considered regulated waste and
must be disposed of in accordance with Georgia Department of Natural Resources,
Environmental Protection Division - Solid Waste Management: Chapter 391-3-4.15. (6)
Waste potentially contaminated with small amounts of blood or other infectious body
fluids (e.g., gauze, wipes, disposable lap cloths), which do not meet the definition of
regulated waste, may be placed in a covered receptacle and disposed of through
normal, approved disposal methods.
The premises shall be kept in such condition as to... bugs - Answer-to prevent the
entrance, harborage, or feeding of insects, rodents, or vermin.
Floor Construction (4) - Answer-(1) Floors and floor coverings of all work areas,
dressing rooms, locker rooms, toilet rooms and vestibules shall be constructed of
smooth, nonabsorbent, durable material, and maintained in good repair. (2) The floor
and wall juncture shall have a minimum four (4) inch cove base installed. (3) The floor
and cove base shall be properly sealed. (4) Carpeting is allowed in the lobby area only
and shall be of closely woven construction, properly installed, easily cleanable, and
maintained in good repair.
Walls, Ceilings, and Attachments - Answer-(1) Walls, including doors, windows, and
similar closures shall be constructed of smooth, nonabsorbent, durable material that is
easily cleanable and in good repair. Ceilings shall be constructed of durable material
that is easily cleanable and in good repair. (2) Light fixtures, vent covers, wall-mounted
fans, and similar equipment attached to walls and ceilings shall be easily cleanable and
maintained in good repair.
Floors, walls, ceilings, and attached equipment and decorative materials shall be

Lighting: 50w-d 36h-f(10) - Answer-(1) Permanently fixed artificial light sources shall be

cleaning or sanitizing equipment, as well as controlling insects and rodents. (2)
Containers of poisonous or toxic materials shall be prominently and distinctly labeled
according to law for easy identification of contents. Label instructions shall be followed.
(3) Toxic items shall be separated from other forms of materials used in body art
procedures. (4) Spray bottles may be used for the purpose of cleaning but not for body
art procedure preparation. Approved squeeze bottles may be used in the body art
workstation for the removal of excess ink during the body art procedure but shall be
