Frame/Body - ANS-1. aka "Conventional or Full Frame
2. Is limited to trucks and a "few" passenger cars.
3. Body is supported by, and bolted to a heavy separate still frame.
Unibody/Unitized Frame - ANS-1. Sheet metal panels that are welded together for support.
2. Welded inner panels are considered "Structural Components".
3. Cosmetic outer panels are usually bolted to the unibody structure.
Direct Impact - ANS-The most severe damage found at the point of impact.
Crush Zones - ANS-1. An area designed to collapse and to absorb collision forces.
2. While absorbing energy, the unitized structure becomes misaligned.
Structural Misalignment - ANS-The movement of one or more structural components from their
original position.
Indirect Damage - ANS-Results in sheet metal distortion away from the point of impact.
Structural Component - ANS-1. A welded sheet metal part that contributes to the structural
integrity of the unibody.
